Returning family Torpedo registration is NOW OPEN for 2024!!

Your guaranteed position ends with open registration on March 1st so do not delay. Here are updates & reminders for this season:

• Vacant Chair Positions. If you are interested in earning all your volunteer points at once, send me an email regarding your interest in the following positions. We must fill these positions in order to participate in meets:
  • Tent Marshall Chair, supervises Tent Marshall volunteers & tent area.
  • Awards & Scoring Chair, supervises Awards & Scoring volunteers & areas.
  • Deck Boss Chair, supervises timers, runners, scribes, & judge volunteers.

•  Practice Begins.
  • April 29th: Practice begins for 6 & Under and all new Torpedoes.
  • May 1st: Practice begins for returning Torpedoes in all other age groups.

• New (Old) Swim League Affiliation. The Torpedoes have rejoined the SHRSL swim league after swimming in WHALe for two years.

• Swim Meets. Meets will be on Monday nights, except for the week after Memorial Day when it will be on Tuesday or Wednesday. The meet schedule has not been announced, we will send that information out when it is published.

• Head Coach. Coach Sean Brogan has joined the Torpedoes as the new Head Coach!! Coach Sean is the Water Polo Head Coach and Assistant Swim Coach at Austin High School and spent many years as Associate and Head Coach for Lake Olympia Swim Team.

• Assistant & Crew Coaches. If your swimmer is at least 14 and interested in becoming an Assistant (paid) or Crew Coach, please send me their information. A Coach Application is attached to this email.

• New Swimsuits. This year is a swimsuit refresh year, the new suits may be found at the Torpedoes SwimOutlet page. Current year’s team swimsuits are mandatory for all meets. The team receives cash back from Swimtopia for these purchases, which help fund operating costs and swimmer party events.

• Torpedoes Merch. Custom team merchandise will be available soon, we are awaiting new designs at this time.

• Torpedoes Sponsorship Incentive. Any family which gains a new company sponsorship will be reimbursed for one swimmer per $500. Contact the Torpedoes Sponsorship Chair, Angela Criswell at [email protected] with interest. Sponsorship levels and information is posted on our website.

• Torpedoes College Scholarships. After 8th grade swimmers who are current Torpedoes in four of five summers can earn a $500 college scholarship!!

• The Torpedoes are not a learn-to-swim program. Summer swim team is to enhance skills already learned from swim lessons. There is a one-week grace period during which swimmers are permitted to practice and work on skills necessary to make the team. During that period if the swimmer, parents, or head coach believe the swimmer will benefit from more swim lessons, a partial refund will be issued. The last day for a partial refund is May 3rd, 2024. If your swimmer drops from the team before the cutoff, a refund will be issued minus credit card fees and $65.00 to cover coaching and mandatory league insurance fees.
